The project
Key portions of the existing structure were retained, while new works introduced an expanded living and dining area, a reconfigured kitchen, additional accommodation, a new garage, and outdoor spaces connected by large sliding openings, timber decking, and a covered pergola. Inside, timber flooring, stone surfaces, detailed joinery, and a feature fireplace ground the material palette, with raked ceilings and retained exposed trusses adding volume while keeping the home's original warmth. The result is a calm, considered coastal retreat, built for quiet weekends and longer family stays.
The Challenge
A project balancing retained structure with new construction carries real risk. With existing walls, trusses, and framing staying in place alongside new additions, Eighth Degree Homes needed a precise, reliable record of every service and structural element before it was closed in, both to protect the integrity of the retained sections and to ensure the new work integrated cleanly. On a project recognised for the quality of its detailing, there was no room for undocumented guesswork.
Eighth Degree Homes delivered a substantial alteration and addition to an existing coastal home in Blairgowrie, reworking the original dwelling around light, landscape, and extended living.

Pre-Plaster & Handover Scan
Sitescan captured the Blairgowrie Coastal Retreat at two critical stages: pre-plaster, documenting every cable, pipe, and structural element before the walls closed in, and handover, creating a time-stamped digital record of the completed build. Together, these scans gave Eighth Degree Homes a millimetre-accurate reference throughout the final stages of construction, and a permanent record of the the finished project at the day of handover.
With a build of this calibre, recognised with a 2024 HIA Victorian Renovation/Addition Award, having an accurate as-built record means every detail behind the walls is documented as carefully as the finishes in front of them.
