The project
Modcon Solutions delivered purpose-built modular facilities for the Broadsound Solar Farm, a major renewable energy project in regional Queensland. The buildings were manufactured off-site in a controlled factory environment, then transported thousands of kilometres and installed at a remote site.
The Challenge
Remote sites leave no margin for error. Once the modules left the factory, getting back to them meant long travel, high costs and lost time. Modcon needed a reliable record of every service and structural element before the walls were closed and the buildings were on a truck. They also needed a clear record of each module's condition before transport.

Our Solution
Pre-Plaster Scan
Sitescan captured the modules [at pre-plaster stage in the factory] using LiDAR and 42MP 360° imaging. We documented every cable, pipe, conduit and framing detail before it was concealed. The result was a fully navigable, millimetre-accurate 3D model the whole project team could access from anywhere.
The Outcome
Modcon now holds a permanent digital record of what sits behind the walls. If an issue comes up on site in Queensland, the team can locate services and take measurements from their desk in Melbourne rather than guessing or cutting into finished walls. The scan also serves as a time-stamped condition record, which protects Modcon if any transport damage or defect questions arise.
